Puzzling Cases

Currently trying out they/them pronouns to see if I like it. Mostly a Laywright blog, but don’t be surprised by random other fandom things popping in. My art tag is Wordsart.

a salmon holding a small piece of notebook paper, this is a recurring character in i-am-a-fish lore but you do not need to be up to date on fish lore to participate in this postALT

hey guys fish is out for today so I’m gonna be subbing. she left some classwork for you to finish. here you go

a scrap piece of notebook paper that reads "Drink water" "Brush your teeth" "Please do not kill the substitute teacher"ALT

Best I can do is 2/3

you know what, that’s okay. I know it can be hard to brush your teeth every day, or drink a glass of water. there’s a big misconception that all of these tasks we do for maintenance are “easy”, but that just isn’t the case. taking care of your body is hard work, and I’m proud of you for any amount of self care that you’re able to do.

just the salmon sub on a white backdropALT
the salmon sub, with a fin extended, offering a red heart of kindnessALT

I love that the body maintenance is what you thought they couldn’t do. You are so much more wholesome than me, substitute fish.

Dragons are extraordinarily good mimics, escaping human predation by disguising themselves as common airliners, some even going so far as to sport crude copies of carrier logos. This makes them difficult to track, though most sources agree that the dragon population is critically endangered.

While there has been some success with halting large-scale dragon hunting, conservationists are still concerned about a recent spate of crashes in otherwise healthy adults.

Given that dragons communicate via radio signals and that most crashes occur near military radar stations, it is theorized that the radar may be disorienting the dragons. Investigations are still ongoing.

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva

    PART 01

    〚FIRST〛〚PREV〛〚NEXT〛

Disclaimer: This is a fan-translation for the Japan-exclusive novellisation of the movie Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva. The original novel was written by Aya Matsui under the supervision of Akihiro Hino, and belongs to Level-5.

This translation only aims to be a pleasant read for non-Japanese fans, nothing more: I made a few deliberate changes while translating in order to get the writing style closer to what is usually found in English fanfictions, as the Japanese storytelling can sometimes be different than what we are used to.

I make these comics as much to remind myself what I’m learning as I do to share them with you all.

I finally took action to get help with my anxiety when I realized it was preventing me from living my life. I kept cancelling plans or avoiding things because I felt anxious—and avoiding them made the anxiety go away! (At least until the next time.) However, it was clear that I wasn’t making choices aligned with my values, and I wanted to change that.

Facing your fears a little at a time is often used in exposure therapy. When a therapist first recommended it to me, I balked because I didn’t feel brave enough to do something scary. However, the very act of doing something scary has helped me feel braver. It is still very difficult sometimes! But I know it’s important work.

So, I’ve been reading Prince Harry’s autobiography, but I’ve encountered a weird hitch. Every time he wants to talk about the late Queen Elizabeth II, he calls her Granny. Which makes sense! She was indeed his grandmother and that is a logical thing to call your father’s mother. But the problem is… I’m now picturing… her.

    I watched this video!

It was the first video that pops up when searching for book binding fanfictions and it was pretty informative! I used Adobe Reader (free) to make the booklets / signatures after putting the stuff together in google docs. I can show how I did it in stream tomorrow if that helps?
